Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Testing

Do Not Disturb and Do Not Be Disturbed

All electric or electronic devices transmit and also receive electromagnetic waves that can potentially cause interferences with other electronic or electrical equipment. At some point or another, we have all heard the crackle of radio interference or seen the stripes that interfere with television transmissions. To prevent this, electric devices have to be adhere to EMC guidelines and must carry the CE mark. Anybody wanting to bring such products onto the market has to comply with the EMC directive 2014/30/EU. As an authorized body and international service provider, we offer a flexible, competent service to help you meet the requirements of this directive.

Benefits at a Glance

Product audits and certification from TÜV Rheinland help you to:

  • Ensure your compliance with the legal requirements of the EMC directive
  • Receive conformity evaluation from an independent third party
  • Benefit from short audit times and our extensive experience
  • Gain increased security in terms of product liability
  • Improve your market position with tested products

Your Products – Our Service

Our experts will evaluate the electromagnetic compatibility of your product in only three steps:

  1. Audit of the product according to the 2014/30/EU EMC guideline. Equipment must be constructed in such a way that the electromagnetic frequencies caused do not disturb the function of other products, and vice versa.
  2. Issue of an audit report.
  3. Certification.

Numerous gauging procedures can also be carried out in our mobile lab at short notice and on-site.

TÜV Rheinland: a Globally Renowned Test Authority

In Germany

The German Federal Network Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Locomotives, BNetzA for short, has listed us as a 'notified body' in line with the EMC directive. This lets us evaluate the conformity of your products and whether they deviate from standardized norms, or where no standardized norms exist.

We are listed as an authorized auditing facility by the Federal Communications Commission in the US. This entitles our employees to carry out commissioned audits both in Europe and internationally.

CB Process

As a national certification institute, we adopted the CB process many years ago. The CB process counts as a basis for national certification in many other countries in the European Union, also in countries that are not yet official member states.
