Glass Packaging and Tableware

Service from the Glass Experts

As a manufacturer, importer or user of glass packaging materials or tableware, your branding is your face to the market. While glass in principle is a safe material, it is also brittle and prone to breakage. Poor production and process control increases the chances of defects and damages. TÜV Rheinland has therefore implemented a whole range of services to certify the quality of your glass products for packaging and tableware – so you can show and provide your customers with the quality they expect and deserve.

Our experts at TÜV Rheinland are well versed in various testing procedures and methods. That means we can test for factors like:

  • Thermal shock (in tea glasses)
  • Impact resistance
  • Internal pressure resistance
  • Closing and opening issues
  • Residual stresses
  • Glass identification

We can also offer further testing for other uses of glass. With our in-depth analysis, you can meet specifications or customer expectations a lot easier. We understand glass making and industrial processes. Which is why you can expect more than only a test report.

Our Approach

The output generated through our glass testing and certification projects is used as the basis for approval of the batch of glass to be delivered to users of packaging glass.

Based on low, medium, and high-carbonized drinks, the thresholds for safety levels vary. Some beverage and food companies also have additional demands.

With our reports and testing, the beverage and food industry can use the glass without, fully secure in the knowledge that their products adhere to safety standards.

As these usually involve JIT processing, our speed and service levels are adopted and tailored to your company's specific situation. Testing results are usually available one day after batch production closure.
