Non-Destructive Testing of Welds

Ensure the Quality and Strength of Your Welds

A weak weld can weaken an entire structure. That’s why yours need to be top quality.

TÜV Rheinland has highly qualified inspectors who can perform non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds – either in house or at field locations – to determine and help assess weld process problems.

Our inspectors are certified in accordance with the American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) and EN (European Norms). They also have outside accreditations from the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap), the American Laboratory for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA), and the American Welding Society (AWS).

More Information

Non-destructive testing (NDT) of welds can be performed in-house or at field locations. It can involve all different NDT inspection services, such as ultrasonic testing (UT), PT, MT, RT, and ET, as well as visual inspection of welded components. These tests are determined by weld configuration and by access to the welds. By performing these inspections, we can assess a welder’s performance in accordance to a welding procedure.

We also provide consulting and training, allowing companies to achieve their goals in meeting industry standards for qualifications of welders and welding procedures for most materials:

  • Weld procedure specification
  • Welder qualification test
  • Procedure qualification record
