SCC */ SCC**/SCCP / SCP Occupational Safety Certification

SCC* / SCC**: Occupational Safety Certification for Technical Service Providers

As a technical service provider, you perform your services on-site at your client’s premises. Having a good management system for occupational health and safety, and environmental protection is essential for a number of reasons, including for gaining the trust of your clients. By obtaining Safety Certificate for Contractors (SCC) certification, you can prove to your clients that you, as a technical service provider, have a functional occupational health and safety strategy in place. SCC* is a restricted certificate that is relevant for companies with <= 35 employees who employ the services of sub-contractors in the certified area. SCC** is an unrestricted certificate.

SCP: Occupational Safety Certificate for Personnel Service Providers

If you are a personnel service provider, the Safety Certificate for Personnel Service Providers (SCP) is right for you. As a personnel service provider, you can score extra points with your clients with SCP certification.

SCCP: Occupational Safety Certification in the Field of Petrochemicals

As a technical service provider in the petrochemical industry or in refineries, you have to meet unique, additional requirements. The Safety Certificate for Contractors in Petrochemicals (SCCP) gives you the qualification you need in this industry.

SCC* / SCC** / SCCP / SCP: Management Systems for Occupational Safety

SCC*, SCC**, SCCP and SCP are globally recognized management systems for occupational safety certification. The goal behind occupational safety certification is to reduce the number of and prevent the occurrence of accidents. The standards set out clearly defined threshold values for the frequency of accidents and put up-to-date accident statistics at the center of the evaluation. For technical service providers and personnel service providers, SCC*, SCC**, SCCP and SCP certify a holistic approach to occupational health and safety, and environmental protection.

Prerequisites and Requirements

SCC occupational safety certification follows a 2-level question catalog process. The extent of the audit and the number of questions that must be answered is based on the number of employees in your company.

SCC* as a Restricted Certificate

If your company has fewer than 35 workers (including interns, temp workers, and vocational trainees), you will receive a restricted certificate known as SCC*. This, however, only applies if you do not use the services of any sub-contractors. Your management activities relating to health, safety and environmental protection (HSE) are audited directly at your place of work. 27 obligatory questions in the SCC question catalog must be completely satisfied (100% compliance).

SCC** as an Unrestricted Certificate

If your company has 35 or fewer workers (including interns, temp workers, and vocational trainees) and you employ the services of sub-contractors as technical service providers, you will receive an unrestricted certificate known as SCC**. Our auditors will assess your HSE management activities at your place of work and in your HSE management system. 40 obligatory questions in the SCC question catalog must be completely satisfied (100% compliance). Furthermore, at least 5 of the 9 denoted supplementary questions must be answered positively.

SCCP as an Unrestricted Certificate in the Field of Petrochemicals

You will be evaluated based on the SCC** criteria and required to meet unique, additional requirements pertaining to the petrochemical industry and refineries. 44 obligatory questions in the SCC question catalog must be completely satisfied (100% compliance). Furthermore, at least 3 of the 5 denoted supplementary questions must be answered positively.

SCP Certificate

SCP certification only applies to temp worker agencies that have already introduced an HSE management system. 29 obligatory questions in the SCC question catalog must be completely satisfied (100% compliance). Furthermore, at least 3 of the 6 denoted supplementary questions in the SCP question catalog must be answered positively.

Important Information

SCC*, SCC**, SCCP and SCP occupational safety certification also include requirements that must be met by your company’s employees and senior staff. For example, operational employees in the SCC/SCP certified areas must successfully complete the HSE exam. The exams must be conducted by personnel certifiers accredited by the Deutschen Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) accreditation body.

SCC certification also includes special requirements (international indicator systems for documenting accidents) relating to the frequency of accidents. An occupational accident is defined as an accident resulting in the injured employee missing one or more days of work. The accident frequency is calculated as follows and may not exceed 40 for first-time certification:

Accident frequency (AF) = (Number of occupational accidents x 106) / number of hours worked
