Certification According to DIN EN 16001

The Management Standard for Energy Efficiency

The new DIN EN 16001 standard focuses on your company's energy consumption and energy policy. You decide: either establish your own energy management system or integrate it into an existing system - for example, ISO 9001 or ISO 14001. Our experts are on hand to guide you on the road to an energy efficient company.

The Building Blocks of an Energy Management System

Important components of an energy management system are to:

  • Define energy policy
  • Set energy targets
  • Introduce energy controlling measures
  • Implement efficiency projects

This will enable you to improve your company's energy efficiency on a continuous basis.

Six Steps to More Energy Efficiency

Our experts analyze and assess your processes and systems. DIN 16001 certification is done in six steps.

1. Preliminary Audit (optional)
Our auditors conduct a preliminary audit, which also includes a site visit, determining whether any requirements associated with this standard have already been implemented in your company and, if so, which ones.

2. Documentation Review
The auditing team determines the extent to which your energy management system documentation already concurs with DIN EN 16001 specifications.

3. Audit
You demonstrate how your company applies its energy management system in practice, and our auditors test how effective it is.

4. Issue of Certificate
If your company meets all of the criteria, your company is then awarded the certificate. It certifies the compliance of the standards and operation of your energy management system in line with DIN EN 16001.

5. Surveillance Audits
Our annual surveillance assessments help you continuously optimize your processes.

6. Certification Renewal
After three years the audit is repeated for certification renewal to ensure continued improvement in your processes. This demonstrates to partners and customers your long-term energy policy commitment.

What you can do to reduce your energy costs while improving cost-effectiveness? Our experts will analyze and examine the flows of energy and the necessary processes in all important areas of the company. After all, you can only make significant cuts to energy consumption if you improve efficiency at all process levels.

Cut Energy Costs, Save Taxes

According to the Erneuerbare Energien Gesetz EEG (Renewable Energy Act), you are only eligible for tax relief in the energy sector if you have an energy management system, or ENMS for short. DIN 16001 certification therefore helps build a foundation for subsidy opportunities and tax savings.
