Earthquake in Haiti

After the devastating earthquake in Haiti in January 2010 employees and the Executive Board decided to offer financial support to people in the area. An appeal for donations was published on the intranet.

By donating to the TÜV Rheinland Foundation employees were able to directly support the people in Haiti. The great motivation was that the Executive Board announced they would double the amount donated by the employees. The result: the TÜV Rheinland Foundation donated 30,000 euros to “Help e.V. – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe“ (helping people to help themselves). Help e.V. is an aid organization operating worldwide, which helps people in need regardless of their origin, religion or world view. Help in situations of catastrophes, long-term development aid, reconstruction projects and humanitarian mine clearing are all part of their work. We made a conscious decision to collaborate with Help e.V. because we regard helping people to help themselves as a sustainable and responsible way to offer support. In this way, people are empowered to improve their own living conditions. This promises long term success.
