The majority of electrical products for household and similar use in Australia are defined as prescribed items and require a certificate of approval from a recognized approval scheme such as TUV Rheinland prior to supply and sale in Australia. The supplier may present a compliant test report to the applicable Australian / New Zealand standard as a means of demonstrating their electrical equipment meets the essential safety requirements to obtain such an approval.
