TÜV Rheinland Australia is holding a series of vocational qualification training programs for the TÜV Functional Safety Program to support engineers (and/or persons in the functional safety business) deepen their knowledge and experience.

This training will support participants to attain a globally acknowledged certificate in Functional Safety according to IEC 61508.

About the course

Engineers who have worked in the field of functional safety for many years have the possibility to obtain an official verification of their expertise. Those candidates who successfully pass a final exam will receive a TÜV Rheinland Functional Safety Engineer Certificate.

This certificate, which is acknowledged worldwide, states that specific knowledge within the field of ‘Hardware/Software Design’ has been achieved.

  • IEC 61508 structure and terminology
  • Risk Assessment
  • Fault Model
  • Safety Lifecycle Steps
  • System Design and Implementation Requirements
  • Random Failure, Systematic Failure
  • Documentation
  • Failure Rate, Diagnostic Rate, Common Cause Failure
  • Calculation of Safety Parameters (PFH, PFD, SFF)
  • Functional Safety Management and Functional Safety Assessment

Course Duration

  • 4 days (3.5 day course without the exam)

Course Cost

  • $3500 (Includes exam, Training Proceedings, Lunch and Refreshments)
  • $3000 (Without Exam, 3.5 day course)

We have also had interest in running a Functional Safety for Machinery course based on the standards IEC 62061 and EN ISO 13849. We are hoping to run this during the week of the 20th of March 2012.
