Cologne/Düsseldorf. With its dynamic and targeted growth, the TÜV Rheinland Group achieved a strong upturn in revenues and considerably higher earnings in 2006. Year-on-year, the Group posted an improvement in all key business data.

In 2006, revenues increased by 13.3 percent to EUR 902 million. Within four years, revenues have risen by 40 percent. Earnings before tax rose 25 percent to EUR 51.3 million in 2006. Despite high levels of investment, the Group profit margin increased to 5.7 percent.

Approximately 60 percent of total revenues were generated in Germany, and just under 40 percent internationally. International revenues rose strongly by 17.7 percent. German revenues moved up by 11 percent. The strongest sales growth was recorded in Asia (plus 17 percent), in particular China which moved up by 30 percent.

“What is particularly pleasing is that the upturn has a primarily organic basis, i.e. growth was achieved not by acquiring companies, it is rather the result of higher demand for our services,“ commented President and CEO Prof. Bruno O. Braun.

Last year, the number of employees worldwide increased by over 1,100 to 10,350. 800 jobs were created and 300 added as a result of acquisitions. This year, it is expected that an additional 1,200 jobs will be created internally, of which 300 in Germany.

According to the TÜV Rheinland Group, growth and responsibility go hand in hand. They are two sides of the same coin. It is for this reason that the company has joined the Global Compact of the United Nations. The objective of this global network of companies and interest groups is to work in favour of human rights, labour standards, sustainability and environmental protection and against child labour and corruption.

For the current business year, President and CEO Prof. Bruno O. Braun is optimistic, “For 2007, we again expect double-digit revenues growth. The first months confirm this. I am expecting that we reach the EUR 1 billion revenues threshold.”
