Classification according to the rules listed in Annex IX (MDD), abridged version:

Rules 1-4: all non-invasive medical devices
Rules 5-8: all invasive medical devices
Rules 9-12: additional rules for active (power-supplied) medical devices
Rules 13-18: special rules for the classification of medical device
