Long-term Measurement of Pipelines
When the site moves
Operating pressure is normally the only load to which pipelines are subjected.Additional stresses occur in particular situations in conjunction with shifts in position.
These shifts are caused for example by:
- Tunnelling work
- Civil engineering work
- Subsidence in mining areas
- Tectonic disturbances in the earth accompanied by spontaneous soil creeping
Mounting onto pipelines
As a rule, a measuring cross section consists of 3 strain gauges,
with two measuring axes(X-rosettes) vertical to each other.
The strain gauges are stuck onto the brightly ground pipe. In
addition we install temperature sensors. Sealing is carried out
after cabling.
Our installation technology protects the strain gauges against
dampness and pressure. This ensures the functioning of the strain
gauges for years.
Measuring and evaluation
The measuring cables come together in a marked post .Readings are
taken with a battery-operated hand measuring device. The readings
are analysed immediately. The additional stresses are determined
through possible subsidence or soil creeping
