How to become certified under the KTQ

Your route to higher quality

The experts at TÜV Rheinland are on hand with expertise and tactful advice to guide you through the KTQ certification process. There are three steps, as follows:

1. Self-assessment
In the first step you use the criteria from the KTQ catalog to assess your own organization. This allows you to describe the current situation, identify room for improvement, and establish inter-departmental communication structures.

2. External assessment (site visits)
The external assessment is completed on site. There are usually four people who carry out this site visit: three independent KTQ visitors and one visit attendant from TÜV Rheinland who coordinates the process.

3. Quality report and issue of certificate
If your hospital achieves over 55% in the external assessment, the certification body issues the KTQ certificate and you are allowed to use it in your advertising.

Additional information
The KTQ certificate is valid for three years. In contrast to ISO certification procedures, surveillance audits are not performed during this time.
