The new driving licence categories
Many people who passed their driving test before 1998 have difficulty remembering the new driving licence categories. However, you should be aware of the new terms by the time you apply for a new credit card driving licence, at the latest.
The categories at a glance:
- A is valid for motorcycles (formerly category 1)
- B is for cars (category 3)
- C is for HGVs (category 2)
- D is for buses (formerly KOM)
- E is for trailers (new)
- M is for mopeds up to 45 km/h
- L is for agricultural vehicles up to 32 km/h
- T (for tractors)
- S is for three-wheeled vehicles (trikes) and light four-wheel vehicles (quads) up to 45 km/h
