Current Regulations - What the law requires:

Backdating
Since 12/1/1999, a deadline extension for the main (HU) and emissions (AU) inspection by means of postponement is no longer possible.

Example: HU or AU in March – but presented in April – new plaque backdated for March.

Shortening of the error elimination period
The registered user of the vehicle must eliminate the errors that were determined in the HU immediately, but no later than one month from the HU date.

Storing of the inspection report
The registered user of the vehicle must store the HU – inspection report at least until the next HU. He must be able to present it upon request. For this reason, we recommend keeping the inspection report in the vehicle.

Loss of the inspection report and/or test certificate
In this case, the registered user of the vehicle must obtain a replacement. We can provide you with a copy for a small processing fee.

Warning charges and fines if the presentation deadline is exceeded
Important for our customers:
TÜV does not exact warning charges and fines! If the HU deadline is exceeded, the law provides for a warning charge of:

  • Two to four months:  € 15.00
  • Four to eight months:  € 25.00
  • More than 8 months:  € 40.00 plus 2 points in Flensburg

If the AU deadline is exceeded, the law provides for a warning charge of:

  • Two to eight months:  € 15.00
  • More than 8 months:  € 40.00 plus 1 points in Flensburg
