Consumer tips - Playgrounds

Wear and tear, vandalism, effects of the weather on playgrounds can endanger the health of your child. As kids often do not correctly assess any threatened dangers, you should inspect the area closely yourself and report any obvious defects, such as rusting or rotting equipment immediately to the operator responsible, such as the local authority, housing association or kindergarten. They will, of course, be liable if your child is involved in an accident as a result of defective maintenance work and inadequate controls.

Safety checks

Although the operators have a legal obligation to check toys regularly, professional safety checks often take place too infrequently or are not adequate.

As a member of staff at a local authority, servicing company or kindergarten, TÜV Rheinland also offers you further training in the area of "Safety in children's playgrounds". This will enable you to learn about the construction of the play equipment and how to service it properly.
