Consumer tips - Gyms

Regular fitness training improves your general well-being, but only if the exercises on the equipment are controlled and tailored to your physical requirements. Therefore, look out for the quality of the staff and the condition of the equipment when choosing a gym. In good gyms, as a layperson, you will not be allowed on the equipment straightaway. Instead, a qualified trainer will carry out a fitness check, put together an individual training programme for you and explain to you the function and effectiveness of each piece of equipment.

Have a test training

Definitely have a test training session with expert advice before signing the contract. At the same time, also check the cleanliness of the changing rooms and the selection of group courses and additional offers (sauna or massages). If you want to strengthen your back or reduce stress, also keep an eye out for health and relaxation courses, such as back training, aqua-fit or Qigong.

Promotion by health insurance?

Additionally, many gyms co-operate with health insurance funds that will accept up to 80 per cent of the costs for courses that promote health. And before you join, find out exactly about the times, notice periods and special clauses, such as bringing your own drinks.
