Consumer tips - Children’s vehicles
Trike, bobby car, scooter or kettcar and co
When you buy a vehicle for a child, the carriage should match the age and the size of your child in order to minimise the risk of injury. This is particularly the case for vehicles for the youngest children. With a trike, bobby car, scooter or kettcar it is important that your child has both feet securely on the ground and is able to grasp the handlebars, where available, with both hands. Take care that the vehicle does not have any sharp edges or protruding parts.
Stability
As low a centre of gravity as possible and a large base for three or four-wheel vehicles will ensure safety. Test its stability when making the purchase. Push the steering system alternately from left and right and tilt the vehicle slightly. It must stand absolutely secure as you do this. This differs for trikes and scooters, children should use them to train their sense of balance. This task is made easier if the vehicles are manageable and not too heavy.
