What does CE stand for?
The abbreviation "CE" stands for Communauté Européenne, which is the French term for the European Community, and represents regulations harmonised across the EU.
What scope does the CE mark have?
The mark aims to simplify the movement of goods in Europe. The EU directives determine numerous health and safety requirements for a wide range of products to protect the consumer and every product which is subject to a directive requires a CE mark.
How shoud I proceed?
After determining the directive which the product is subject to, the confor- mity procedere is carried out. In this procedere, you, as manufacturer or authorised person, declare the conformity of your product with the legal regulations in force (German GPSG and MPG). for some products, it is necessary to involve a notified body.
On request of the authorities, you must provide evidence (test report, technical documentation) as soon as possible.
The CE marking must be affixed before a product is placed on the market or put into operation. If no CE marking is provided for your product in the sense of an EU directive, the CE mark must not be applied to the product either.
