Brake fluid
Control of brake fluid
Over time, moisture enters the brake system. The water changes the characteristics of the brake fluid. The brakes can therefore fail after multiple braking, such as when driving in the mountains.
Brake fluid may not boil.
Braking creates heat on the brake disc, which is transmitted to the brake fluid. Pressing the brake pedal is intensified many times over, leading to high pressure in the system.
However, if the fluid starts to boil, steam bubbles form. In comparison to fluid, this offers no resistance the system can no longer produce the necessary pressure. The result is brake failure.
Checking the brake fluid.
The brake fluid always fails without warning. A test is helpful here:
With a brief test, we determine the boiling point of the brake fluid. If it is too low, the brake fluid must be changed.
The brake fluid test costs you only 5.00 Euro with your TÜV-service station on-site.
