In 2025, TÜV Rheinland received Gold status in the ranking by EcoVadis once again, which places it among the top 5% of companies evaluated. As in previous years, TÜV Rheinland not only increased its overall score but also improved in individual categories. As a result, TÜV Rheinland achieved a key goal of its sustainability strategy: to continuously improve its own sustainability performance as measured by the continuous positive trend of its overall score. EcoVadis assesses the sustainability performance of companies in four domains: environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. The rating is one of the most meaningful assessments of corporate sustainability performance worldwide.

Group revenue

TÜV Rheinland’s group revenue (including inventory changes) rose to €2,977.8 million in the 2025 financial year (previous year: €2,713.8 million). Organic revenue growth, adjusted for acquisitions and the first-time inclusion of companies in the scope of consolidation, in the current and previous financial year was €146.0 million (5.4%). Viewed in adjusted terms – i.e. applying the projected exchange rates of the 2025 financial year also to the previous year – Group revenue totaled €3,015.6 million, which corresponds to a rate of growth of 11.7%. Based on constant rates of exchange, revenue growth was 11.9%. As a result, the stated forecast for 2025 – to generate revenue growth in the mid-single-digit percentage range – was exceeded.

Operating result (EBIT)

The operating result amounted to €242.3 million in the 2025 financial year (previous year: €214.8 million). After adjusting for € –25.9 million in special effects, EBIT stood at €268.3 million (previous year: €225.4 million). Special effects generally comprise four categories: effects from purchase-price allocations (PPA), changes in the scope of consolidation, restructuring measures and exceptional provisions. In the 2025 financial year, special effects essentially comprised two categories: expenses for restructuring measures (€ –11.6 million) and combined depreciation and amortization from purchase-price allocations and earn-out payments (€ –8.3 million). Effects from one-time premium payments to employees (€ –14.5 million) and income from the sale of two investment properties (€8.7 million) were also taken into account.

The EBIT margin, which expresses EBIT in proportion to Group revenue, stood at 8.1% in the 2025 financial year. As a result, the target for 2025 – to achieve an EBIT margin at least as high as that of the previous year – was achieved. Taking the above-mentioned special effects into account, the adjusted EBIT margin stood at 9.0% (previous year: 8.3%).

Cash flow

Positive cash flow from operating activities during the financial year of €282.4 million was essentially unchanged from the previous year’s figure of €283.0 million. Non-cash depreciation and amortization increased during the financial year by €9.6 million, while the € –9.8 million change in deferred tax assets and deferred tax liabilities counteracted that increase.

The negative cash flow from investing activities decreased by €97.6 million compared to the previous year to € –87.2 million. Proceeds from disposals of intangible assets and property, plant and equipment increased by €4.6 million to €8.9 million. The cash flow from financing activities was positive during the 2025 financial year and increased by €70.7 million to €8.0 million.

Employees

Every day, some 28,550 TÜV Rheinland employees (headcount) help make the world a safer place. This includes persons in long-term absence, employees in limited part-time employment, contract workers (in Germany only), temporary workers, and participants in external projects, which must be taken into account due to legal requirements.

As of the balance sheet date of December 31, 2025, TÜV Rheinland’s active workforce comprised 26,634 employees (full-time equivalents) or 27,399 employees by headcount. The average number of full-time employees (full-time equivalents) during the financial year was 26,138 employees, representing a year-over-year increase of 2,218 employees (FTEs) or 9.3%. The gender distribution within the workforce showed that 65.3% of employees were male and 32.5% were female. There are no disclosures relating to gender for the remaining 2.2%.
