Electrical Products and Electronics
The services rendered by TÜV Rheinland in the Certification of Electrical Products and Electronics aim at ensuring that this type of products, with which we have daily contact, are safe and trustworthy. Thus, our experts perform voluntary and compulsory tests to prove the safety and quality of the product. TÜV Rheinland’s specialists certify the safety and quality of products, satisfying the needs of manufacturers and consumers.
Resolution ex SICyM No. 92/98 was issued in Argentina with the aim of safeguarding the safety of people, goods, and domestic animals.
It establishes the minimum safety requirements that must be complied with by low voltage electrical products in order to be sold in Argentina, which must be verified by a compulsory certification system performed by organizations with recognized technical competences.
Therefore, all imported or locally manufactured products sold in Argentina must have a certificate issued by a national Certification Organization accredited before the Argentine Accreditation Organization (OAA, as per its Spanish acronym) and recognized by the National Directorate of Domestic Trade (DNCI, as per its Spanish acronym).
Products included
“Low voltage electric equipment” makes reference to the electric device, equipment or material used for electric installations or forming part of an electric installation with a nominal voltage of up to 1000V AC or up to 1500V CC.
Products subject to the compulsory certification regime are listed in Resolution SDDC No. 76/2002, which also includes a list of the products that are exempted from the certification regime due to their characteristics and functions.
Tests
Products shall be tested pursuant to the applicable IRAM or IEC standards in a laboratory recognized by the DNCI and accredited before the OAA.
Tests can also be performed in the laboratories of the manufacturing plants, as per the provisions of Resolution SDCC No. 237/2000.
World Net: Acknowledgment of certificates
Importers can also acknowledge foreign certificates issued on a product as long as certificates were issued by a branch office of the TÜV Rheinland Group.
Disposition No. 302/2000 by the DNCI validated the mutual acknowledgment agreement entered into between the branch offices of TÜV Rheinland and TÜV Rheinland Argentina, thus allowing the acknowledgment of previously issued certificates without the need to perform new tests in the country.
Certification systems
Importers, distributors or manufacturers of the product can choose one of the following certification systems:
- Type Certification
- Conformity Certification
- Batch Certification
Products shall display a safety symbol allowing consumers to identify the system under which they have been certified. Moreover, products shall be subject to market controls pursuant to the provisions of Resolution SCT No. 96/2003.
