Optimization and Efficiency of Steam Boilers

Usually steam generators lose energy, this could be easily solved optimizing the functioning of the equipment. TÜV Rheinland Group’s services in the optimization of smoke boilers, hot water and thermal fluid tubular boilers, consist of the practice of a method through which conditions in which a boiler operates are established so as to improve its performance.

This optimization method determines whether the boiler operates in optimum conditions, through the analysis of boiler exhaust gases, combustion quality and thermal performance by indirect method.

If the boiler is fitted with a combustion control modulation system, measurements are taken in three load states such as a 20%, 50% and 100% of the load.

If the combustion control system is on/off, two measurements (maximum and minimum load status) are taken. Equipment prepared for combustion gases analysis are Testo 300 M or Testo 342-1.

Results are included in a boiler’s combustion quality and thermal performance report. If considered that the boiler does not operate in optimum conditions, it is considered the possibility of reducing the operational cost by fuel consumption.
